Friday's snow and ice has led to the postponement of several Monroe County Region high school athletic events and more are expected to be called off as the day goes on.

Friday’s snow and ice has led to the postponement of most of tonight's Monroe County Region high school athletic events.

Monroe Public Schools are in session today, but the district has postponed its boys and girls basketball games against Ann Arbor Huron.

They will be made up Wednesday as part of a five-game day at Huron.

The freshmen boys and junior varsity girls will play at 4 p.m., the varsity girls and junior varsity boys at 5:30 and the varsity boys at 7.

The girls teams had been scheduled to play at home, but they were shifted to Huron because Monroe has parent-teacher conferences that day.

State Line Christian has called off is boys basketball game against Cleveland Heritage. That is unfortunate because the Patriots were scheduled to honor last year’s state championship team.

Bedford has rescheduled its boys and girls basketball games against Saline. They will be played on Jan. 23.

Ida, Erie Mason, Whiteford, Summerfield and Dundee all called off girls basketball games slated for tonight.

Summerfield's girls will play at Adrian Madison Wednesday. Mason hopes to make up its game at Onsted tomorrow and Ida tentatively has rescheduled its game at Blissfield for Tuesday.

The Bedford wrestling team will still be competing at the Maumee Bay Classic and St. Mary Catholic Central hockey will play in the Alpena Tournament. Both of those teams left before the severe weather moved in.
