Sturgis city clerk Ken Rhodes told city commissioners at their meeting Wednesday that the city had sent absentee voter applications to everyone on its permanent absentee list, but the Michigan Secretary of State would be sending absentee applications to all registered voters within the city and state.

“We’re hoping most of our voters do vote (absentee), because that will reduce the crowds come August and November,” Rhodes said. “I’d rather have them all on election day, but just out of concern for our election workers and ease, I think having people vote AV this time around will be a little simpler.”
