LANSING — The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 504 new cases of COVID-19, the sickness caused by the coronavirus, on Wednesday, May 27.

MDHHS reported 68 new deaths on Wedensday. Of the 68 new deaths, 14 were found in a review of previous death certificates.

Michigan now has 55,608 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 5,334 deaths from the virus.

According to MDHHS, Ionia County has 145 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and three deaths from the virus.

“ICHD is confident that there is community transmission in Ionia County,” The Ionia County Health Department posted on Facebook Tuesday. “The best protection you have is still to follow the governor’s executive orders and to stay home if you are able to do so.”
