The following is a letter to the editor.
Mr. deLespinasse's opinion, “Why Joe Biden should not debate Donald Trump” in The Monroe News' and Daily Telegram's May 23, 2020, edition is a lame and pathetic pre-emptive bag of nonsense written to keep the obviously out-of-touch gaffe machine Joe Biden from taking center stage and exposing more of his weaknesses and babbling.
Among many other reasons, Mr. deLespinasse writes, “Still Biden should refuse to debate Mr. Trump. It is impossible to debate someone who is going to make up facts on the spur of the moment. The findings of fact checkers would not be available to Biden during a debate. When asked why he decided not to debate, Biden he should just state that there is obviously no use in debating with someone like Mr. Trump.” I see. It's Trump's fault that Biden shouldn't debate. Pathetic. It should be the MAIN reason.
Mr. deLespinasse continues on with numerous other third-grade worthy excuses Biden should use to stay out of a debate although, surprisingly, he did miss "the dog ate my homework."
My rebuttal is not in any way a letter of support for Mr. Trump; it is in support for open debates between the candidates. Mr. deLespinasse, like so many other Biden supporters, is scared to death to allow Mr. Biden out of his basement and onto a debate stage for fear he'll make a fool of himself, as he so often has.
