SAULT STE. MARIE — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District announced earlier this week that Engineers Day has been canceled due to the coronavirus.

The event was scheduled from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 26. Here, tourists and residents walk across the Soo Locks walls and explore the buildings and special exhibits.

"The Engineer's Day event scheduled for June 26, 2020 was canceled,“ said Kevin Sprague, area engineer, Soo Area Office. ”The Corps finalized the decision after evaluating the risk to our people, hydropower and navigation missions due to the pandemic."

Next year’s Engineers Day is scheduled for June 25.
