ALLEGAN — The 48th Circuit Court in Allegan County has joined trial courts across Michigan in beginning to offer live video feed of courtroom proceedings during the COVID-19 closures of public buildings.

Live-streamed hearings offer a way to maintain public access to the courts when most courthouse buildings are closed to the public.

Circuit Court Judges Roberts Kengis and Margaret Bakker each have a courtroom YouTube channel, which serves as the platform for their online video feeds. Links to the YouTube channels are posted on the county’s website.

Court proceedings can be watched in real time, although videos are deleted shortly after the day’s hearings are finished.

Ottawa County’s 20th Circuit Court began streaming hearings online two weeks ago and Allegan County’s 57th District Court has also been offering live video feeds of court hearings.
