WHITEFORD TOWNSHIP – There no longer will be a race for treasurer or trustee in Whiteford Township after updated lists pared down the candidates vying for the posts.

Incumbent treasurer Timothy J. Hill, a Republican from Ottawa Lake, won’t be contested by Ottawa Lake Democrat Beth Pauli in the Aug. 4 primary election. Hill also no longer will appear on the ballot for trustee. All candidates will move on to the November general election, since they’re not up against party rivals.
