The accidental gas main break was related to construction on a new culvert between Tuttle-Hill and Yensch Rds.
LONDON TOWNSHIP — Ostrander Rd. between Tuttle-Hill and Yensch Rds. was closed to through traffic for several hours Monday due to construction on a new culvert by the Monroe County Road Commission that caused a break in a natural gas main.
Road commission crews knicked a 2-inch gas line and it was repaired, said Cheryl A. U’Ran, administrative assistant/ deputy clerk for the road commission.
Volunteer firefighters from London-Maybee-Raisinville Fire Department were called by Central Dispatch about 11:30 a. m. Monday to assist with blocking off Ostrander between the two intersections. A couple of homes were reportedly evacuated as a safety precaution.
The road was closed until the road commission repaired the main.
