SAULT STE. MARIE — Sault Dial-A-Ride buses now have a new look on their vehicles.

“We had the opportunity to change our image when we realized that we were replacing four out of our six transit vehicles within months of each other,” said Joel Amo transportation coordinator at Sault Dial-A-Ride and Mackinac County Transportation. “Chippewa-Luce-Mackinac Community Action Agency has managed the City of Sault Ste. Marie’s bus system since 1974. For the last 46 years, our community has recognized our buses more or less by the ‘Coca Cola’ red stripe. The transition to a more modern look comes during times of an abundance of caution when in public areas.”

Amo further described the practices that have been implemented since the coronavirus pandemic, such as the use of personal protective equipment and social distancing while on the transit vehicle. The organization also sanitizes their busses as frequently as possible and even provides medical masks to those who are medically able to tolerate a face covering while supplies last.

The transportation coordinator added, “A big thank you to our bus staff and those agencies and organizations continuing to provide service for our community. We hope our riders enjoy the new look.”
