Meet the Author is a recurring series in The Monroe News.

Meet the Author: Tom Mohrbach

Residence: New Port Richey, Fla., for four years, before that a Monroe County resident since birth.

Bio: "I am a retired police sergeant from the City of Monroe Police Department. I was a part-time columnist for The Monroe News from 2012-15, as well as worked part time with the Erie Township Police Department from 2012-16. My wife and I retired to Florida. I enjoy reading, fishing, hunting, hiking, beaching and writing. Our daughter, Danielle, lives in Chicago."

Title of Book: "Cardinal Deceit."

About the book: "It is an action-packed, fiction-thriller, featuring a secret group within Vatican Security that is responsible for proactively investigating any threats made against the pope. The group responsible for the abduction believed that the Vatican would simply 'turn the other cheek,' when faced with their demands. An all-out counter-assault was the last thing they expected.

"Readers of my first novel, 'Vatican Vengeance,' will be happy to learn that some of the same characters return in 'Cardinal Deceit' with several new ones introduced as well."

Projects underway: "I am writing my third novel that is currently untitled. It will involve the life and death misadventures that a group of brothers encounter on their annual 'up north' deer hunting trip. I’m thinking a modern-day 'Deliverance' type novel."

Publisher: Self-published

Where can it be purchased: It is available in eBook form on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple sites for $2.99. It also is available in paperback for $9.99 exclusively via Amazon.
