Monroe County has six more confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus today; bringing the total to 284 since the first one was reported March 14.

Monroe County picked up six more confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus Wednesday; bringing the total to 284 since the first one was reported March 14.

This was among the data available when Monroe County and State of Michigan issued their latest public health updates Wednesday.

There has been no change in the number of deaths for Monroe County in recent days; that number remains at 12.

The State of Michigan is now reporting a total 40,399 COVID-19 cases since the first one was reported March 10; this includes a total of 3,670 deaths attributed to the coronavirus. The worst-hit areas are Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties, including city of Detroit.

The percentage of positive cases among the tests given per day in State of Michigan has varied over the course of the pandemic. The most recent data for Region 2 South, which includes Monroe, Wayne and Washtenaw counties, shows 802 positive cases among the 6,505 tests issued on April 27, or a total of about 12 percent.

In the meantime, today's breakdown of cases per ZIP code in Monroe County is as follows:

48162 (Monroe north): 64 cases. 48161 (Monroe south): 43 cases. 48166 (Newport): 42 cases. 48182 (Temperance): 34 cases. 48117 (Carleton): 30 cases. 48160 (Milan): 14 cases. 48144 (Lambertville): 14 cases. 48159 (Maybee): 9 cases. 48131 (Dundee): 9 cases. 48145 (LaSalle): 6 cases. 48133 (Erie): 5 cases. 49270 (Petersburg): 5 cases. 48179 (South Rockwood): 3 cases. 49267 (Ottawa Lake): 3 cases. 49238 (Deerfield): 1 case. 48140 (Ida): 1 case.

There are 283 cases shown on the ZIP code chart; however, the total count for Monroe County is 284.

In addition, the updated age brackets for the Monroe County cases are as follows:

Age 19 and younger: 7 cases. Age 20-29: 25 cases. Age 30-39: 44 cases. Age 40-49: 55 cases. Age 50-59: 64 cases. Age 60-61: 42 cases. Age 70 and older: 47 cases.

The "recovery" data is updated about once a week at both the county and state level; and today's reports did not include that data.
