WALDRON — The cause of a fire that destroyed two garages and melted siding on a neighboring house Tuesday night remains under investigation.

Wright-Waldron Assistant Fire Chief Shawn Barnhart said Wednesday morning the cause of the fire had yet to be determined and that nobody was injured in the fire.

The Wright-Waldron Fire Department was dispatched to the fire on Emerson Street in the village of Waldron around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mutual aid for a full assist was quickly requested from the Morenci Fire Department by firefighters responding to the dispatch and sizing up the scene.

Flames consumed a detached garage before spreading to a second detached garage and melting the siding on a neighbor’s home.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and the fire was called under control around 10 p.m.
