During the quarantine, none of us can access physical library books, including HDL staff. Thankfully, the eLibrary offers thousands of titles you can access remotely from home. Holland community members are accessing a lot of them right now; eBook usage has doubled during the COVID-19 closure.
Here are some eBook and eAudiobook titles our staff members have enjoyed. Look for them on Hoopla or OverDrive at herrickdl.org/eLibrary or search the library catalog at herrickdl.org for these titles.
Abbey recommends Sarah's Scribbles Comics collections. “These comics have that rare perfect combination of laugh-out-loud humor and heart. “
Mary recommends the Hannah Swensen series beginning with the Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. “A woman who owns a small cookie shop in a small town in Minnesota turns out to be very good at solving murders.”
Elizabeth recommends Circe by Madeline Miller. “The writing is enchanting, and it offers a view of Greek myths and epics through a different set of eyes.”
Sarah recommends Eighty Days: Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World by Matthew Goodman. “A nonfiction account from the late 1800's of two women's adventures as they try to circle the globe in record time.”
Steven recommends Gingerbread by Helen Oyeyemi. “This is a delightful and surreal book packed with deep insights on heritage and society that reads like a fairy tale for adults.”
Laura recommends I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi. “This book takes a modern, simple yet effective approach to financial health and has something for everyone: financial fees, automating your savings and investments, negotiating a raise, managing student loans, and conscious spending.”
Stay tuned in the next few weeks for more HDL staff recommendations from the eLibrary.
